Sunday BMX Bikes FAQs

Are Sunday bikes made for street, park, or dirt?

Most Sunday bikes are designed with versatility in mind, but certain models lean toward specific styles:

  • Street: The Street Sweeper (Jake Seeley signature) has a very short rear end and steep head tube for technical maneuvers.
  • All-Around: The Soundwave and EX models are designed to handle everything from massive drops to park sessions and trails.

What is "Wave" tubing?

Sunday's signature Wave Tubing (found on the Soundwave and Nightshift models) features a rippled or "waved" surface on the down tube and top tube. This design is specifically engineered to resist denting from rails, ledges, and impact, which significantly extends the life of the frame.

What does "41-Thermal" mean?

41-Thermal is a specialized heat-treating process developed by Sunday's sister company, Odyssey. It makes the chromoly steel incredibly strong while remaining lightweight. Because Sunday is so confident in this process, any product with the 41-Thermal stamp (like the Soundwave frame or Octave forks) comes with a Lifetime Replacement Warranty against bending or breaking.

What size Sunday bike should I get?

Rider Height vs. Frame Size

Choosing the right frame size is the difference between feeling "in" the bike versus feeling like you're fighting it. Sunday frames are measured by the Top Tube (TT) length.

Young Shredders (3'0" – 3'8")

  • Wheel Size: 16"
  • Top Tube: 15.5" – 16.5"
  • Best Sunday Model: Bluebird 16"

Junior Riders (3'6" – 4'6")

  • Wheel Size: 18"
  • Top Tube: 18" – 18.5"
  • Best Sunday Model: Blueprint 18" or Primer 18"

Teen / Small Adult (4'10" – 5'4")

  • Wheel Size: 20"
  • Top Tube: 20" – 20.25"
  • Best Sunday Model: Blueprint 20" or Primer 20"

Average Adult (5'5" – 5'10")

  • Wheel Size: 20"
  • Top Tube: 20.5" – 20.75"
  • Best Sunday Model: Scout or Forecaster

Tall Riders (5'11" – 6'2"+)

  • Wheel Size: 20"
  • Top Tube: 21" – 21.25"
  • Best Sunday Model: EX, Street Sweeper, or Soundwave Special

Cruisers & Commuters (Any Height)

  • Wheel Size: 24" or 29"
  • Top Tube: 22" +
  • Best Sunday Model: Model C (24") or High C (29")

Pro Tip: The Pop Factor

If you are between sizes, remember:

  1. Shorter Top Tube: Makes the bike more responsive and easier to "pop" into manuals or spins.
  2. Longer Top Tube: Provides more stability at high speeds and gives your knees more room during barspins.

What is the difference between the Blueprint, Primer, and Scout?

These are Sunday’s entry-to-mid-level completes:

  • Blueprint: The beginner bike. Great geometry but uses more affordable materials like hi-ten steel.
  • Primer: A serious starter bike. It features a sealed rear hub and pro-level geometry at a budget-friendly price.
  • Scout: The intermediate choice. It includes more aftermarket parts (Odyssey pedals/tires) and fully sealed hubs throughout.

Does my Sunday bike have a warranty?

  • Standard Frames: 6-month warranty against manufacturing defects.
  • 41-Thermal Products: Lifetime replacement warranty for the original owner.
  • Components: Most parts have a 90-day warranty, while "wear parts" (tires, grips, chains) usually have a 30-day window for defects.

Will painting my frame void the warranty?

Sunday generally states that if the bike breaks because of a structural defect, painting it will not void the warranty. However, modifications like grinding down dropouts or drilling holes in the frame will void it immediately.

Sunday BMX Bikes

Why Choose Sunday BMX?

Sunday BMX has remained a leader in the freestyle BMX industry since 2005, primarily known for solving the most common problem in bike maintenance: frame failure. By implementing pioneered technologies like Wave tubing—which utilizes a rippled down tube to prevent denting—and the 41-Thermal heat-treating process, Sunday has set a new benchmark for structural integrity. If you are tired of bending forks or snapping frames, Sunday’s lineup of 20-inch, 24-inch, and 29-inch bikes offers a solution for every rider profile.

Complete Bikes for Every Skill Level

Our catalog spans from entry-level builds to pro-grade replicas. The Sunday Blueprint and Sunday Primer series provide an accessible entry point for beginners, featuring modern geometry that makes learning basics like bunnyhops and manuals more intuitive. For intermediate riders, the Sunday Scout and Sunday Forecaster models introduce sealed hubs and Odyssey aftermarket parts. Elite riders often gravitate toward the Sunday Street Sweeper or the Soundwave Special, which come out of the box with the same specifications used by the professional team.

Engineering Excellence and Aftermarket Components

What sets Sunday apart from other BMX brands is the integration with Odyssey BMX components. Most Sunday completes feature Odyssey Springfield brakes, Twisted PC pedals, and Path Pro tires. For those building a custom setup, the Sunday Nightshift and Soundwave v3 frames offer the ultimate in lightweight strength, featuring hollow dropouts and integrated chain tensioners.

Sizing and Geometry for Modern Riding

From the responsive, short chainstays of the Street Sweeper—perfect for technical street lines—to the stable, high-speed feel of the Darkwave, Sunday geometry is refined for specific riding styles. Whether you need a 21" top tube for extra room or a 16" bike for a younger rider, our commitment to "Quality is Everything" ensures that every weld and every tube is built to perform.
