Sizing & Buying

How do I know what size bike to buy?

Answer: Bike sizing depends on your height, inseam, and the specific geometry of the bike. You can find a sizing chart on every bike's product page. If you are between sizes or need expert advice, reach out to our Guest Support team via chat or give us a call, and we’ll help you find the perfect fit.

Is the inventory on your website the same as in your retail stores?

Answer: Our online store and retail stores maintain separate inventories. If you see something online, it may be shipping from our central warehouse rather than your local store. If you want to check local availability, call your local Bicycle Warehouse.

Can I test ride a bike before I buy it?

Absolutely! If you live near one of our retail locations, we encourage you to come in and take a test ride. We recommend calling ahead to ensure the specific model and size you want is built and ready on the floor.

Shipping & Order Status

When will my order ship?

Most orders of bike parts, accessories and clothing leave our warehouse within two business days of placing an order.

Most bike orders ship within 3-5 business days. Occasionally, it takes an extra 2-3 days due to transport from one of our stores to our main warehouse. We then package the bike and ship it.

You can always check the status of your order on your account page.

What carrier does Bicycle Warehouse ship with?

We make every effort to get your order to you as quickly as possible. Generally to expedite delivery times we ship smaller packages USPS Priority and larger orders such as bikes, auto racks, etc. ship via UPS or FedEx Ground service.

Order Tracking

Please give a day or two for your order to update. It may read Pre-Shipment, but rest assured it is working its way through the carrier’s system. Once your package is scanned at the carrier's shipping facility, tracking information will begin to show movement.

  • Pre-Shipment: Your order has been packed and a label created, but it may not have been scanned by the carrier yet.
  • In Transit: The carrier has picked up your order, and you’ll start to see location updates as it moves toward you.
  • Out for Delivery: Your package is on the truck and should arrive that day.
  • Delivered: The carrier has marked your package as delivered.

If tracking hasn’t updated after 48 hours, don’t worry—carriers sometimes miss scans or experience delays in posting updates. Your order is still on its way to you.

Can I cancel or change my order?

Answer: We know that sometimes mistakes happen or you change your mind! Because our warehouse team works hard to get your gear out the door as quickly as possible, we have a very small window to cancel or modify an order. Please reach out to our Guest Support team immediately by phone or live chat. We will absolutely try our best to catch it for you! However, please keep in mind that even if you haven't received a tracking number yet, your order has likely already been processed and packed, meaning it can no longer be pulled or changed. If your order is already too far along in the shipping process to be stopped, we will gladly help you easily set up a return once the package arrives.

What should I do if my bike or product arrives damaged?

First off, don't worry, we've got you covered! Please take clear photos of the box and the damage, keep all packaging, and email our support team immediately so we can file a claim with the carrier.

What orders ship free?

We are happy to offer FREE shipping on orders over $125 within the continental United States.

This may exclude bicycles and other oversized items, see your shopping cart for more deta

Should I keep my bike box?

Answer: Yes, please hold onto your bike box and all interior packing materials for at least 14 to 30 days. If you need to return the bike for any reason, you will need the original box to ship it back to us safely. Finding a replacement bike box later can be difficult and expensive!

Bike Assembly & Set Up

How much assembly is required when my bike arrives?

Answer: Bikes shipped to your door will arrive about 95% assembled. You will typically need to install the front wheel, attach the handlebars, insert the seatpost, and screw in the pedals. We provide detailed reassembly instructions and videos to walk you through the process step-by-step. More info on our Reassembly Page here.

What tools do I need to assemble my bike?

Answer: Most bikes can be assembled with a basic set of metric Allen wrenches (hex keys), a pedal wrench (or a thin 15mm open-ended wrench), and a bike pump. Some brands include a basic tool kit in the box, but we recommend having your own tools on hand.

Does my new bike come with pedals?

Answer: Many mid-to-high-end bikes are sold without pedals because riders prefer to choose their own specific pedal system (like clipless SPD pedals or flat mountain bike pedals). Check the "Specs" section on the product page to see if standard test-ride pedals are included with your specific model.

Does my bike arrive set up tubeless?

Answer: If a bike is listed as "Tubeless Ready," it means the rims and tires are compatible, but they are typically shipped with standard inner tubes installed. This prevents tire sealant from drying out or worse yet, leaking during transit. You will need tubeless valves and sealant to complete the conversion at home.

Returns & Warranty

How long do I have to return an item?

Answer: We want you to be thrilled with your gear, which is why we offer our Love It Guarantee! For standard apparel and gear, you have 30 days from delivery to request a refund. For bikes, you can return them within 14 days or 14 miles of riding (for e-bikes), whichever comes first. Items must be in new or like-new condition.

For more information or to start a return visit our Returns Portal by clicking here.

Do you offer exchanges instead of returns?

Answer: To ensure you get the right gear as quickly as possible, we do not offer direct exchanges. Simply place a new order for the correct size or color to secure the inventory, and use our return portal to send the original item back for a full refund.

How do I submit a warranty claim?

Answer: We stand behind the products we sell! If you believe your item has a manufacturer defect, please contact our Guest Support team with your order number, clear photos or videos of the issue, and the bike's serial number. We will act as your advocate and facilitate the warranty claim directly with the manufacturer on your behalf.

Bike Availability

What bikes are available in store?

Bikes are always selling and moving between our retail locations.

Inventory can change very quickly by the hour so it may be different by the time you arrive.

The best way to ensure you get the bike you want is to order it online and select pick up in store at checkout. If you're not quite sure on your dream bike yet stop into one of our retail stores and tell one of our Team Members what type of riding you are looking to do.

How long until the bike I purchased online is ready for store pickup?

We make every effort to get your order to you as quickly as possible. Generally to expedite delivery times we ship smaller packages USPS Priority and larger orders such as bikes, auto racks, etc. via UPS Ground.

If I buy online how long until my bike ships?

Most bike orders ship within 3-5 business days. Occasionally, it takes an extra couple days due to transport from one of our stores to our main warehouse. We then inspect, package and ship the bike.

E-Bikes & Hazardous Materials

How are e-bikes shipped?

Answer: Due to their size and battery weight, e-bikes are shipped via specialized ground freight or standard FedEx/UPS Ground. Because of their high value, a direct signature will be required upon delivery. We recommend tracking your shipment closely so you can be home to receive it.

Can I return an e-bike?

Answer: Yes, e-bikes fall under our Love It Guarantee and can be returned within 14 days or 14 miles of use. However, because e-bike lithium-ion batteries are classified as hazardous materials, they cannot be shipped via air. If you are shipping an e-bike back to us, you must ensure it is routed exclusively via ground shipping.

What class of e-bike is this?

Answer: E-bikes are categorized into three classes: Class 1 (pedal-assist only, up to 20 mph), Class 2 (throttle and pedal-assist, up to 20 mph), and Class 3 (pedal-assist only, up to 28 mph). We list the class in the specs of every e-bike we sell so you can ensure it complies with your local trail and bike path regulations.

Payments & Financing

Do you offer financing or payment plans?

Answer: We do! We believe in offering flexible payment plans for every rider. At checkout, you can easily split your purchase or finance your dream bike using Affirm, PayPal, or Shop Pay. We also offer promotional financing through Synchrony (which you can pre-qualify for online without affecting your credit score), as well as no-credit-needed options through Snap Finance. Simply choose the option that best fits your budget at checkout! Click here for more info.

Can I split my payment between two different credit cards?

Answer: Our online checkout system can only process one credit card per transaction directly. However, the quickest way to split your payment is through PayPal. Simply select PayPal at checkout, and their platform will allow you to divide the total between your PayPal balance and multiple credit or debit cards.

Alternatively, you can purchase a Bicycle Warehouse digital gift card for the amount you'd like to put on your first card. Then, apply that gift card code at checkout and pay the remaining balance with your second card. You can also call our Guest Support team, and we would be happy to process a split payment over the phone!

Can I use my HSA/FSA funds?

Answer: Yes, certain cycling products and sometimes even e-bikes, if you have a Letter of Medical Necessity from your doctor can be purchased using HSA/FSA funds. For more info on using HSA/FSA for your next bike, check out our TrueMed information page.
