#Ride For Roses
Oh, it's that time of the year. You can already smell the fresh cut roses telling us love is everywhere. It's Valentine's, the perfect time to tell someone close that you love them.
Here's some fun ideas to try...
Go on a bike date
We're all romantics at heart here at Bicycle Warehouse and we love to ride bikes. Combining the two is a natural for us. We suggest an easy casual ride around Mission Bay, Downtown San Diego or Coronado.
Love Potion #1
A Mission Bay ride is perfect if you can take the day off or arrange an extended lunch. Get a picnic basket ready with some easy food like cheese, crackers, fruit, water, juice and a little vino. If you really want to impress get some chocolate covered strawberries too.
Strap a couple bikes to your car and hide the basket in your trunk. Pick up your special someone at work or home and tell them you've got a romantic surprise waiting for them. Head on down to Mission Bay and park near the Hilton Hotel.
If you don't have 2 bikes to use you can borrow them from a friend, rent them by the hour from Deco bikes in front of the Hilton or come let us deck you out with a couple cool new rides. Walk towards the bay to find the running/biking path. Ride north until you spot a comfy private place to spread out a blanket and have a picnic. Hang on the romantic part hasn't started yet.
Now, the good part. It requires some advance homework but it's totally worth it. Pick up a journal book with a nice cover. Something in their favorite color. Now write something on each page that you love and/or appreciate about them. If you get a journal with 50 pages in it, you should fill it with 100 notes of love (front and back). Don't stress. It seems like a lot but once you get rolling you will fall in love all over with them. Let these get your creative juices flowing:
- Something I Love about you is...
- your beautiful smile
- your kindness
- your enthusiasm for life
- Something I appreciate about you is...
- generosity towards strangers
- always make me laugh
You get the idea. Even if you don't do the journal we recommend leaving lot's of little notes around with the same messages of love and appreciation. Leave them all around, in the basket, in the car, on the bike, mixed in around the food, etc. Just pull them out of your pocket and randomly start reading them out loud. They will totally love it.
Love Potion #2
If downtown is more to your liking. Start at the Star of India Sailing Ship. They have some Deco bikes to rent across the street as well. Ride along the water south past the Midway aircraft carrier to the Embarcadero Marina Park next to Seaport Village. You can do your picnic spread at the park along the water or you can try a meal at any of the Seaport restaurants. Our favorite spot is the San Pasqual Wine Tasting room.
Love Potion #3
Still not enough? Try this if you want to be the romantic envy of all your friends. Still do the journal and the picnic basket. This time you'll start at the Hotel Del Coronado. Ride your bikes south along the strand to a very well kept secret in San Diego. The Coronado Gondola's. Yes, there is actually a real authentic Venetian Gondola that travels through the Coronado Cays waterway. It comes with your very own Gondolier who sings like an angel. The chocolate covered strawberries and champagne or wine is a must on this ride.
It's a truly beautiful experience that will be remembered for a lifetime
