Kitted out with GIANT's trail proven SynchDrive Pro powered by Yamaha in combination with the EnergyPak Smart 500 battery, the Reign E+ is ready for long rides and has the power to get you through tough terrain. The EnergyPak Smart 500 battery meets the EN5064 quality standard and provide a higher safety rating compared to many other models on today's market. GIANT improved the design by utilizing honeycomb structure within the alloy casing; improving heat distribution and increasing the longevity of the battery at optimal power. This will make a huge difference when pushing the bike to it's limits, especially when dealing with the elements such as extreme heat. Paired with the EnergyPak 6A Fast Charger the Reign E+ can be charged to 80% in under one hour! Also new for 2020 GIANT has released the EnergyPak Plus 250 range extender. This smaller 250Wh external battery pack pairs with the existing EnergyPak Smart 500. Utilizing the bottle cage area this extra battery pack, boosting your battery to 750Wh while only adding 2.5kg of weight.
Recently, Giant Factory Off-Road Team rider Josh Carlson has spent time riding Giant E-bikes, incorporating them into a training routine. “It just brings the fun back,” Carlson said. “My whole goal is to get more descending time in and less pedaling. Compared to my Reign Advanced race bike, the frame geometry and suspension on the E-bike version are pretty similar. You get to go twice as fast up climbs, so I can easily do more laps in a day’s training.”
Carlson’s experience on Giant E-bikes, and his feedback throughout the two-year development process of the Reign E+ Pro, has offered valuable insight into the design of the new platform.
