The Giant Trance E+ 1 Pro is a member of the Giant electric bike family, Giant's line of pedal-assisted bicycles includes road, mountain, and commuter models. Today we're focusing on a flagship model for Giant, the Trance. For 2020 they released the Trance E+ 1 Pro as their top tier all-mountain full suspension bike. The Trance E+ 1 Pro slays the technical downhill sections with its maestro suspension, wide tires, and aggressive geometry; while still packing a punch up those steep climbs. Electric bikes have come leaps and bounds over the last few years, and the Trance E+ 1 Pro is one trail tested, shuttle ready, piece of downhill mountain biking magic. The 2020 Giant Trance E+ 1 features an extremely intuitive electronic control system to fully exploit the powerful Class 1 SynchDrive Pro motor. Six different sensors collect data as you ride along the trail; including your speed, torque, motor rotation, cadence, slope angle, and acceleration. This data is pulled together to deliver the most efficient use of the motor offering the perfect amount of pedal assistance. Even the lowest, ECO, setting provides substantial pedal assistance. The real beauty of the E-Bike is it's ability to turn a daunting climb for some riders, into an enjoyable warm up before the descent. The pedal assist can really enable riders to go further, and faster. Especially anyone dealing with a lack of physical fitness or injuries. Climbs you would never dream of cleaning on a standard bicycle become realistic, and a fun challenge!
The Giant Trance E+ features a minimalist styled controller on the left side of the handlebar. The controller features a simple button layout, and allows the rider to cycle between five different levels of pedal assistance, ranging from 50% assist in the ECO mode, up to 360% assist in the highest mode. In addition there is an AUTO mode that adjusts the asist level accordingly based on the data collected from the six sensor units on the bike. The remaining battery life accessory buttons, and a walk-assist throttle are also features found on the Ride Control Unit. The walk-assist will help if you find yourself hiking a bike up the steeps.
While the display unit on the Giant Trance E+ may lack a fancy display screen providing graphics and information, it's designed to hold up to the demands of a full suspension all-mountain bike, and that includes surviving crashes.
The Giant Trance E+ 1 Pro in a size medium weighs approximately 52 pounds, however the pedal assist completely hides the extra weight. This bike feels totally planted in even the most technical, high speed, downhill sections.
