  1. Invest in a high-quality, durable bicycle. A well-maintained bike will last for many years and require less frequent replacement, reducing the overall environmental impact of your cycling.

  2. Choose eco-friendly accessories. Opt for panniers made from recycled materials, or a bike rack made from wood or bamboo. Use environmentally friendly products such as biodegradable tires, lights powered by rechargeable batteries, and recycled materials for your bike. The simplest is a water bottle - never use a single use bottle!

  3. Plan your route. Before you head out, take a few minutes to plan the most efficient and eco-friendly route to your destination. This will help you avoid heavy traffic and minimize your carbon emissions. ALWAYS Avoid riding in protected wildlife areas or sensitive ecosystems to reduce the impact on wildlife and the environment.

  4. Use public transportation when possible. If your destination is too far to bike, consider taking public transportation or carpooling with a friend.

  5. Ride safely. Always wear a bike helmet and use bike lights and reflectors when cycling at night. This will help keep you safe and reduce your impact on the environment. Be a responsible cyclist by following the rules of the road and being considerate of other road users

  6. Recycle and dispose of your old bike properly. If your bike is no longer usable, look for a local bike recycling program or donate to a bike charity, like Bicycle Warehouse Africa project.

  7. Organize a Clean UP day with your riding buddies. Pick a spot, pack gloves, trash bags, grabbers and clean out sections of your path or trail of trash and recyclables. Always remember - Leave nothing but footprints." Its simplest and most fundamental rule: pack it in, pack it out, but it goes beyond that, leave the path, trail, or road cleaner when you leave than when you arrived.
