La Costa Preserve

La Costa Preserve makes a great midweek ride - easily accessible from most of North County this large open space connects Elfin Forest in Escondido/San Marcos to the coast of Carlsbad and Encinitas. It's a fun ride because of all of the interconnecting trails and varied terrain. You'll find everything from smooth fire roads to steep, rocky descents.

Keep your eyes peeled for signs of the area's mining past. The greenish tint to some of the rocks are from the copper that used to be mined in the preserve up until the 1930s.
